Since 1939
Our History
New York Export traces its origins to 1939, when founder Lawrence Schulman began trading goods into the Caribbean islands. What started as a small operation selling essentials soon evolved into a dedicated fresh-produce business with a main focus on potatoes and onions into Cuba via charter ships from Canada.
Following Cuba’s political transition in the late 1950s, Lawrence refocused the business to the Puerto Rican market, where former clients sought the same trusted supply chain. From these renewed partnerships, New York Export entered a new era —-one that has grown continuously for over eight decades.
